* The Academic Staff Union of Universities,
ASUU, has called off its industrial action
embarked on more than five months ago. The
union met on Monday after the Federal
Government deposited the sum of N200 billion
into a special account with the Central Bank of
Nigeria, CBN, as requested by ASUU.
ASUU suspended the strike after members of its
National Executive Council, NEC, met on
Monday to discuss the payment of the N200
billion.
President of ASUU, Nasir Faggae, told
journalists that the union has agreed to end the
strike. He then directed lecturers to return to
classrooms as soon as possible.
