New Music: SheyMan – Oluwa Wa

* Despite the fact that his last single, Paper
Remix is still one of the top songs ruling
the airwaves, talented singer cum
producer, Sheyman is back with another
club banger, ‘Oluwa Wa’
The new jam, Oluwa Wa is another
exceptional song from Sheyman with great
hook and a simple sing along chorus line. It
appears he has mastered the act of
creating exceptional club bangers. Without
mincing words, no party will be complete
without ‘Oluwa Wa’ in the next couple of
weeks. The producer of the song, Sean
Keyzy also made a convincing impression
of his talent with the production of this
great jam.

The Reason Why Burna Boy Can’t be Allowed In The UK For Shows

* Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna
boy has a high demand in the UK and a lot
of people want to see him perform there,
their is a lot of money for Burna Boy to
make there.
He has been going to USA, Canada &
Cyprus for shows but he has not been to the
UK to perform unlike his fellow Nigerian
artist P-square,Wizkid, D’Banj Iyanya and
other big Nigerian stars who have had
many shows here in the UK.
Why?
The reason why Burna Boy doesn’t come to
the UK to perform is because he was
deported to Nigeria in August 2010 due to
being caught for running bank scams.
Burna boy first came to the UK in 2003 and
was deported back in 2010 for fraud bank
scams.
Burna Boy can’t come back to the UK
unless he has his deportation order revoked
which seems very difficult for Burna Boy to
do at this present moment as he has had
many request to do shows but he can’t go
over there.

* The latest information coming from ace music
producer-cum-singer, OJB Jezreel, from his
hospital in India confirms that he’s now through
with his surgery and has also been discharged
from the hospital.
The Surulere, Lagos bred star, some days ago,
successfully completed his surgery and posted the
pictures online to confirm that.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, OJB expressed joy
at completing the surgery and hinted of his
homecoming, which he says will happen very
soon.
“Dear fellow Nigerians, greetings from far away
India,” he said, expressing that, “I am sure this
note from me will catch you with a little surprise.”
He stated that, “I thought I must take out a quick
moment and let you know that I am officially
discharged today (Tuesday)from the hospital, after
a successful kidney transplantation surgery by
God’s grace.”
Writing further, the ‘African Queen’ beat creator
for 2Face wrote that, “I would like to take this
opportunity to thank all Nigerians for your prayers
and good wishes, without which all this would not
have been possible.”
“I also take this opportunity to thank my friends,
fans and family for all the love, prayers and good
wishes for a speedy recovery,” he stated.
Concluding, the dreadlocks artiste revealed that,
“[I will] be home with you soon,” a news that will
definitely cheer many Nigerians who have
followed the whole process.
Also, one of his close associate, a fore-runner of
the ‘Save OJB Jezreel Campaign’, Nomoreloss,
confirmed to Aproko247, when contacted, that the
seasoned music producer has been discharged
from his Indian hospital.
OJB travelled to India for kidney transplant on the
bills of Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State,
who paid the sum of N16 million for his treatment,
after a Lagos-based soft sell magazine publisher
(name withheld) intervened.

If We Speak Against The Incompetence Of Some People In Their Duties, Nigeria Will Be A Better Place- Omoni Oboli

*Her 13th wedding anniversary celebration couldn't
stop her. Omoni Oboli is still very much angry that
she lost a friend, Deji Falae and other Nigerians in
the Associated airline plane crash. Even as she
celebrated Omoni managed to pen this down. She
thinks Nigeria should have moved beyond plane
crashes due to human errors, and if we come
together as a Nation and move against people
who consistently display incompetence in their
jobs, Nigeria will be a better place.
I am Omoni Oboli, and I represent Naija!
I haven’t been this sad for a long time, owing to
the passing away of a friend, Deji Falae. I can’t
imagine that we still lose people in that manner.
We have passed through this road of plane
crashes and I thought it was a thing of the past,
but here we are again. What’s wrong with us?
Where did we begin to operate in this spirit of
hatred for our own such that we end up killing
ourselves. Our negligence is not just an
irresponsible act that we need to change but
something that could cause the death of another
human being. I’m just so saddened by this
incident, because it could have happened to
anyone. No one in his right mind would get on a
plane if there was the least shadow of doubt to its
airworthiness. That is why the passengers got on
board.
There’s a process that an airplane must go
through before it is cleared for take-off. Various
experts, who have been paid to carry out several
checks on the plane, put their expertise to work to
ascertain the flight worthiness of the aircraft
before it is given the all clear to fly. This process
has been done by the same airline or airport staff
on ground (not the minister, President or
governor) trained in this duty for years, so that
they can ensure the safety of the passengers, who
have paid, and put their trust and their lives on
the line, in the hands of the “able” experts to get
on board the aircraft. The unsuspecting
passengers get on board without the slightest idea
that some personal issues, incompetence or any
other depraved excuses by the workers in charge
that they may be able to concoct under the sun
have made the aircraft their final coffin. I’m trying
to paint a graphic picture of the senselessness,
insensitivity to the conscience and wickedness of
many people, who find time to blame the
government, anyone or anything else for their
irresponsible acts that have caused the death of
the very people their competence was supposed
to protect. We should weep for our many acts of
wickedness, which stem from our lacklustre
attitude to work. The most appalling thing of all is
that they also have the audacity to blame God for
all their actions, calling it “an act of God.” Why
would anyone call it that, when there was nothing
that even remotely suggests that the plane
crashed due to errors beyond human control. True
to our Adamic nature, we blame God and every
other thing but ourselves.
If we all spoke with one voice against our
neighbours who consistently displayed
incompetence in their duties at work, knowing
that the blind eye we turn today could lay the
foundation for an unforeseen disaster tomorrow,
we would begin to see the fruits of that attitude in
our nation. This culture of “manage” has caused
many of us to settle for the mediocre instead of
demanding the excellence we deserve. A
workman delivers a job that is distasteful to the
eye and less functional for the purpose the job
was made to achieve and asks you (the one who
pays with his hard earned money) to “manage” it,
because he doesn’t want to be made to pay for
his mistakes with his own money. This is a
tragedy because the workman will never grow
beyond that level of competence to achieve
excellence in his chosen field.
The pilot of a plane has the duty to check his
plane before he gives it the clearance to fly. He
should not rely on his “super skills” to fly a plane
that he thinks may be less flight worthy than it
should. He shouldn’t use the lives of his
passengers to test his skills. There are rules and
regulations, and the people at the helm of affairs
should ensure that they are strictly adhered to for
the safety of the passengers.
Today, there are very few airlines operating in
Nigeria, thank God! When are we going to wake
up from our slumber and see that there should be
few instead of many because safety should not be
compromised and if only the few can deliver, then
so be it.
Many businesses do not see the light of day solely
because many complacent workers are there.
They are quick to gather themselves into small
groups within the office to talk about the one who
has positioned himself to provide the very job that
gives them the food they eat so that their mouths
can curse them. How very sad! We talk behind our
bosses instead of talking for our bosses. We spend
their money to pretend that we follow their vision,
all the while trying to see ways that we can do our
own business, using their time, which they are
paid for. There’s nothing wrong with doing your
own business, but do it in your spare time.
I can’t imagine going on set of a movie, after
being paid, and then make up an excuse to go on
another movie production because I want to make
more money. That is stealing! We should be more
diligent and learn to cherish our jobs. Look around
you and see that many others are praying to have
the job that you are showing contempt for.
You will be dearly missed, Deji Falae, and my
condolence to the other passengers and crew on
board the ill-fated aircraft. May this serve as a
wake up call for Nigerians to begin the change
towards a better future.

Women Who Are More Powerful Than Jonathan

* Since inception, President Goodluck Jonathan’s
administration has been accused of impunity,
usually caused by decisions and actions of the
President, including those of his ministers and
close associates.
Most of the glaring cases of abuse of power
including reckless spending of taxpayers’ money
have been carried out by the women in Jonathan’s
cabinet. These women have proven to be more
powerful than the
number one citizen of Nigeria because despite
public outcries that greet some of their decisions,
they go scot-free.
Those who fall in this seemingly untouchable
category are the First Lady, Mrs. Patience
Jonathan; the Coordinating Minister for the
Economy and Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi
Okonjo-Iweala; the Minister of Petroleum
Resources, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke; the
Director-General of the Securities and Exchange
Commission, Ms. Arunma Oteh; and the Minister
of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah.
These powerful women have some things in
common. They are all from the South-East and
South-South geopolitical zones. Four of them had
their higher education in the United States and
two of them are daughters of traditional rulers.
Needless to say they occupy some of the most
strategic and ‘lucrative’ positions in the Federal
Government.
PATIENCE JONATHAN
In Nigeria’s history, Patience Jonathan is believed
to be the most powerful First Lady in terms of the
amount of influence she has over her husband and
his cabinet. Mrs. Jonathan first gave a glimpse into
the enormous power she wields in 2011 when she
traversed the country, campaigning for her
husband in a way that irked many Nigerians.
Several calls by individuals and groups to the
President to restrain his wife yielded no result.
Also, in June this year, in apparent violation of the
electoral act, Mrs. Jonathan reportedly started
campaigning for her husband ahead of the 2015
elections. Another show of impunity by the
President’s wife is the way she cripples any town
or city she visits with her long motorcade,
including bulletproof limousines and scores of
armed policemen.
She grounded Lagos in 2012 when she visited to
say “thank you” to some women groups for their
support in electing her husband. Despite the
protest by several Nigerians, who felt that their
right to move freely in their country was violated
by the movement of an unelected individual, the
President’s wife was never cautioned, at least not
publicly. Instead, the Presidency rose to her
defence, giving her the liberty to do more in other
cities. Her visits and grounding of traffic in Port
Harcourt and Warri were also greeted with wide
condemnations.
To show how powerful she is, Mrs. Jonathan
publicly admitted making attempts to dictate to
the Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, a
move that largely precipitated the ongoing
political crisis in the state.
In Aso Rock, where she resides with her husband,
the fear of Mrs. Jonathan is the beginning of
wisdom as she leaves no one in doubt that she is
in charge. There is always a retinue of favour
seekers waiting to see her daily.
Mrs. Jonathan, a native of Bayelsa State, was born
in Port Harcourt on October 25, 1957 and holds
National Certificate of Education in Mathematics
and Biology from the Rivers State College of Arts
and Science, and a Bachelor of Education degree
in biology and psychology from the University of
Port Harcourt.
NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA
Right from when the negotiation to bring her from
the World Bank started, it was obvious that Dr.
Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala was bound to wield so much
power in Jonathan’s government.
With her position as the coordinating minister for
the economy (a new position created for her) and
Finance Minister, Okonjo-Iweala, who is currently
83rd on Forbes’ global list of powerful women,
calls the shots as far as Nigeria’s economy is
concerned. While doing that, she has called the
bluff of many including state governors and the
National Assembly without any consequence.
The state governors, who have complained about
the shabby way the minister treat them, have
called for her removal while the Academic Staff
Union of Universities has called her a ‘dictator.’
But no matter the protest, Okonjo-Iweala remains
a darling of the President.
The sacking of Mr. Shuaib Yushau as the Head,
Media and Information Unit of the National
Emergency Management Agency, after he wrote
what was considered a critical article against
Okonjo-Iweala, further showed that the minister
was not to be messed with.
The article entitled ‘Still on Okonjo-Iweala over
Controversial Appointments’, published on March
6, called on the minister “to ensure that
appointments into important positions should be
done in credible and transparent manner that can
withstand public scrutiny.”
Similarly, Mr. Lawrence Ani, was reportedly
suspended indefinitely from his job as Saturday
Editor of Thisday Newspaper for publishing a story
that cited data that indicated a drop in Nigeria’s
Gross Domestic Product under Okonjo-Iweala’s
watch.
In 2011, against the opinion of the majority of
Nigerians, Okonjo-Iweala and the Minister of
Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke,
insisted on the removal of fuel subsidy, and
literally ordered it on the outset of 2012, resulting
in the Occupy Nigeria protest.
Okonjo-Iweala, who also served as finance
minister and foreign minister under President
Olusegun Obansanjo and as a Managing Director
at the World Bank, was born on June 13, 1954 to
Professor Chukuka Okonjo, who is the Obi
(traditional ruler) of Ogwashi-Uku.
She graduated from Harvard University in 1977,
and earned her Ph.D. in regional economic
development from the Massachusetts Institute of
Technology in 1981.
She is married to Ikemba Iweala from Abia State.
DIEZANI ALISON-MADUEKE
Virtually all sections of the Nigerian society have
called for the resignation of the Petroleum
Resources Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, all to
no avail. Most of those who sought her removal
had cited several allegations of corrupt practices
under her watch as reasons for their demand.
After the revelation of massive fraud in the fuel
subsidy administration to the tune of N1.7trn,
many had thought that heads would roll, including
that of Alison-Madueke, who supervised the rot.
Some heads did roll, but not that of the queen of
the Nigeria oil and gas industry.
Till date, the Presidency has not queried or probed
Diezani over allegations against her and the
indictment of departments under her by several
panels, including those headed by Nuhu Ribadu,
Farouk Lawan, and Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede as
well as the Nigerian Extractive Industry
Transparency Initiative.
Diezani has also not explained to Nigeria, whom
she was appointed to serve, what role she played
in the massive corruption that led to the loss of
huge amounts of public fund. Apart from the
demands for the Alison-Madueke’s resignation and
prosecution by civil society groups, who led the
Occupy Nigeria protest, the House of
Representatives also demanded her removal as
minister.
Despite this, the President did not suspend her,
and gave no explanation for that. This shows how
powerful she is.
Alison-Madueke is the first woman to hold the
position of Minister of Petroleum Resources in
Nigeria, and in October 2010 she became the first
woman to head a country’s delegation at the
annual OPEC conference. She was also the first
female Minister of Transportation, and the first
woman to be appointed to the board of Shell
Petroleum Development Company Nigeria.
Alison-Madueke was born on December 6, 1960 in
Port Harcourt.
She graduated from Howard University in 1992,
with a Bachelor’s degree in architecture and
returned to Nigeria to join Shell Petroleum
Development Corporation.
About 10 years later, she earned an MBA from
Cambridge University and was appointed as the
first female executive director of Shell Nigeria.
In 1999, she got married to Admiral Alison
Madueke (retd), one-time Chief of Naval Staff who
was at different times military governor of Imo
and Anambra states.
STELLA ODUAH
Not many are aware of the tremendous power of
the Aviation Minister, Stella Oduah, in Jonathan’s
government. For her role in Jonathan’s 2011
campaign, she was reportedly rewarded with a
ministerial appointment to the aviation ministry,
even though she had no prior training in the field
of aviation.
Many believe that the President feels indebted to
her for her role as the Director of Finance and
Administration of the Jonathan/Sambo Campaign
Organisation and in the establishment of
Neighbour-to-Neighbour outfit, which reportedly
spent billions of naira on adverts and media
propaganda in favour of Jonathan, especially while
the Occupy Nigeria protest lasted.
Considering this relationship with Jonathan, it
should not be a surprise that Oduah’s response to
critics after the Dana and Associated Airlines
crashes reeked of arrogance.
The latest revelation that she forced the Nigerian
Civil Aviation Authority to buy her bulletproof
vehicles has again elicited calls for her removal
and prosecution but considering the way the
President has treated public outcries against these
powerful women, Oduah is likely to remain
minister till the end of Jonathan’s administration.
Princess Stella Oduah was born on January 5, 1962
to Igwe D.O. Oduah of Akili-Ozizor in Anambra
State on January 5, 1962.
She got her Bachelor’s degree in accounting and
MBA from American universities.
Oduah joined the Nigerian National Petroleum
Corporation in 1983 and in 1992, she established a
petroleum products marketing company, Sea
Petroleum & Gas Company Limited. She was
married to the former Minister for Works, Chris
Ogiemwonyi.
ARUNMA OTEH
Through her battles, the Director-General of the
Securities Exchange Commission, Ms. Arunma
Oteh, has sufficiently earned the name ‘Iron lady’
even beyond her official sphere of influence. When
she clashed with the House of Representatives
Committee on the Capital Market, it was the
chairman of the committee, Mr. Herman Hembe,
that got hurt.
The committee had accused Oteh of fraud and
misappropriation of funds. She fired back,
accusing Hembe of demanding bribe from SEC.
The SEC board suspended Oteh in order to
investigate the findings of the lawmakers, who
probed the capital market and indicted her. She
immediately petitioned the President and Okonjo-
Iweala. After two months, the President returned
Oteh to her position, following the auditor’s report
that said her offence amounted only to
‘administrative lapses.’ The directors and staff of
the commission, who had protested Oteh’s
alleged high-handedness, were advised to calm
down and obey their boss.
On the other hand, Hembe was arraigned by the
Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and
also stepped down as chairman of the committee.
The crisis led to an intense battle between
President Jonathan and the House of
Representatives. The House demanded the
sacking of Oteh but Jonathan refused.
The passage of the 2013 budget was delayed
because of the fight. Eventually, the lawmakers
insisted on zero budget for SEC to force the
President’s hand, but he did not budge. Calls for
her removal by civil society groups also fell on
deaf ears. Oteh, who is an indigene of Abia State,
is also a British citizen.
She graduated with first-class degree in computer
sciences from the University of Nigeria in Nsukka
and earned her MBA from Harvard Business
School.

* FIFA President Sepp Blatter says Africa should get
more spots at the World Cup, giving teams from
the continent more chances to win the
tournament.
For the 2014 World Cup, 53 European nations
have been competing for 13 spots at the
tournament. But the 54-nation Confederation of
African Football will have five teams in Brazil, and
Blatter says the continent is “woefully under-
represented at the World Cup.”
Blatter says that “as long as this remains the
case, African sides may never win an
intercontinental trophy, regardless of progress on
the playing side. This flawed state of affairs must
be rectified.”
Writing in FIFA’s new weekly magazine, Blatter
repeated a call for the number of guaranteed
World Cup berths for Asian teams to be increased
from four.

ASUU/FG Face-Off: Concerned Students Meet Wednesday

* Following several failed attempts by some well
meaning Nigerians and bodies to end the lingering
crisis between the Federal Government and the
Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities,
ASUU, some concerned students have resolved
gather to discuss the issue with a view to bringing
an end to their continuous stay at home due to
the industrial action embarked upon by their
lecturers.
To this effect, the students will meet on
Wednesday, October 30, 2013, in three major
cities in Nigeria; Abuja, Lagos and Port Harcourt.
In a press statement made available to
Aproko247, the group accused the National
Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, of being
compromised, which has allegedly made the
student body unable to resolve the matter.
The Concerned Students disclosed that they are
“tired of the ‘politics’ [being] played by the FG and
ASUU, and ‘obviously encouraged’ by NANS
officials.”
“ASUU does not have the interest of students at
heart otherwise they [would have] consulted the
students before embarking on any strike. The
Federal Government is also not insensitive to the
plight of the students,” the group said in the
statement.
The meetings, according to the release, will start
by 10am prompt at the Old Parade ground, Area
8, Garki, Abuja; Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan,
Lagos; and the park opposite Air Force Junction,
near Happy Bite, Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

[Music] : Angelique Kidjo[@AngeliqueKidjo] - Eva Ft. Asa

* On Eve, her highly anticipated Savoy Records
debut named for her own mother as well as the
mythical mother of all living, the Beninese born,
Grammy Award winning singer/songwriter builds
on this ever-evolving legacy with a 13-track, three
interlude set of melodically rich, rhythmically
powerful expressions of female empowerment.
These songs become all the more intimate and
emotionally urgent with Kidjos dynamic
collaborations with traditional women s choirs
from Kenya and various cities and villages in
Benin. The singer and her newfound native lady
friends sing in a wide array of native Beninese
languages, including Fon (Kidjo s first language),
Yoruba, Goun, and Mina.
Eve is an album of remembrance of African
women I grew up with and a testament to the
pride and strength that hide behind the smile that
masks everyday troubles, says Kidjo, whose
accolades include a 20 year discography,
thousands of concerts around the world and being
named Africa s premier diva (Time Magazine) and
the undisputed Queen of African Music (Daily
Telegraph). They exuded a positivity and grace in
a time of hardship. On this recording I am letting
the voices of the women show their beauty to the
world, she adds. Eve is all about showcasing the
positivity they bring to their villages, cities,
culture and the world.

* Rape is forcing someone to have sex, without theirconsent. It is terrible, terrifying and devastating for
the survivor. It is the crime many people fear the
most.
The myths about rape:
Women ask for it when they go out in short skirts/
tight tops. They make it happen.
Men can't help themselves. They get so fired up,
it's natural.
Girls say no when they mean yes. It's part of the
game.
You can't be raped by your boyfriend. It's your
duty to sleep with him.
The facts about rape:
1 in 5 women in England and Wales has been the
victim of a sexual offence or attempted offence
It's not just girls. Between 2009-10 and 2011-12
there were an estimated 78,000 victims of rape
per year in England and Wales - 69,000 females
and around 9,000 males.
Around 90% of victims of the most serious sexual
offences in the previous year knew the
perpetrator.
Only 15% of rapes are reported to the police.
Ways to stay safe:
Rape is never the victim's fault, and is most often
comitted by somebody that the victim knows.
However when you're out and about there are some
general safety tips which could help you stay aware
of your surroundings.
Avoiding getting your drink "spiked". Keep an eye
on your drink when you're out and where possible
try not to leave your drink unattended.
Where possible try and make sure that, when
you're out, someone you trust knows where you
are.
Trust your instincts. If you feel uneasy - get out.
No apologies, no backwards glances.
If you've been raped:
You've been through a terrible ordeal so thinking
straight might be impossible. But you really must
consider reporting your rape. This is for your own
safety and well-being and that of others.
Being silent only helps your attacker. Telling
someone means you can get the physical checks
and support you need.
First, tell a trusted friend and preferably an adult.
Then either call the police and visit your GP or local
sexual health centre ASAP. They will advise what to
do and won't tell anyone (including the police)
unless you say so.
The sooner you are checked over after a rape, the
quicker you can be sure you're physically OK, and
the more likely the police are to find the forensic
evidence they need to secure a conviction.
There are many experts who can help you make
sense of what happened and look after you while
you do. You may never forget being raped, but you
can move on. Be strong. You'll come through this.
One step at a time.

Open Letter To Eedris Abdulkareem: ‘My Honest Advice To The Jaga Jaga Crooner’

* Written By Bimbo Olaitan.
Please don’t take this personal or as an insult,
Mr. Eedris Abdulkareem. I am a concern music
fan who likes you. I am inspired by your recently
recordings “I GO WHOOZ” & the new one
“MORINGA”. You’re not my favorite though, but
I like your person but has problem with your
personality in the face of the public. Discussing
with my friends that I have had close
relationship or that have really come close to
you. I felt bad hearing their views on your
personality and your words. It’s sad to hear how
humble and nice they said you are but believe
me people don’t see you that way.
I don’t know how or where to start from but it’s
no doubt that the only controversial Nigerian
music star Eedris Abdulkareem, is on comeback
spotlight radar with his recent singles. It has
never happened in the history of the Nigerian
Music Industry, that an artiste made a
comeback after years of silence. Eedris
Abdulkareem has always being a self acclaimed
last man standing. Looking back at his past
troubles and controversies excluding his glorious
years plus the dramatic scenario his song
“Nigeria Jaga Jaga” caused him. His issue with
50 cent, Nigerian Brewery and the presidency
banned on him then.
I have nothing against him but just piece words
of advice to you Mr. Abdulkareem. 1st I must
confessed I love your never say die spirit. But
my major problem with you was your past PR
and the way you present yourself. In all honesty
you deserve our applause because all the
trouble you had came fighting either for your
right or for others. The only ‘But’ has always
been your later approach and attitude toward
certain things and final conclusion.
Thinking of it, maybe the people around you are
scared to tell you the truth and you end up
getting yourself into the bad hands of the public.
Your PR then is not a professional I guess,
because publicity is not just about controversy
alone and bad ones for that matter. For
instance, your words on Dbanj and Don Jazzy
have become regular gist which people are tired
of; even your fans.
Listening to your new single “Moringa” which
trended for two days across the social media, I
felt happy for you because I can sense an
historical comeback. Please it will be in your
best interest to do away with your old habits
which I felt you are already working on.I was at
the Felabration 2013 concert and I was fortunate
to watch your performance and studied you. I
could sense you are humble but your image in
the face of the public like i said earlier seems
different.
Your two recent singles “I GO WHOOZ U” &
“MORINGA” are classic tracks that fit in with a
chance to become a great hit.
Though many have issues with your track “I GO
WHOOZ U” with the lines against Don Jazzy. I
was surprise also at first until I read the write-up
from Gbemi Adesuwa on the issue and I listened
to the track again before I understood you were
not actually dissing Don Jazzy, how many
people do you think will accept you are not?
This new track “MORINGA” is not my kind of
music though but it’s a good song and i believe
it has a better chance. Your next single and
conducts will determine if you can achieve an
historical comeback sir.
Please do away with the spirit of ‘I don’t care’
and start showing you do. You can become
great and celebrated again.
There is more money in the music business now
unlike how it was years back when you
championed the game.
Your new track “MORINGA” shows you can be a
good brand ambassador but you need to prove
you can. No brand wants to be associated with
an arrogant individual but a good role model.
Don’t get me wrong sir. Over the years you’ve
proven to be an individual who can be a good
role model but you need to clean the past
image people had of you and prove to us you’re
worthy.
We know you’ve done a lot for this industry but
let your music speak it and not you saying it all
the time alone. Reporters can push words into
your mouth, be wise and I know you’re smart.
Don’t let them bring you down like they did for
many other artistes. Also let me quickly say
this, it will be nice for you to take hold of the
boy called VTEK because the young man has
proven to us that he can be part of your re-
branding judging from your two songs with him.
We already notice his awesomeness on
PSquare’s recent songs including the
“Personally” song which was said to be co-
produced alongside Paul Okoye of the Psquare.
A word they said it enough for the wise. Kindly
think about all what I have said sir and take the
ones that you felt are truth into use. Please I am
begging you because I can see a future ahead of
you if only…
Thanks for your time.
What do you think?

Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife TV to debut the African version of Desperate Housewives in 2014

* From Left to Right: Catherine Powell, SVP & GM,
Media Distribution, The Walt Disney Company,
EMEA; Giovanni Mastrangelo, General Manager,
Disney Media Distribution, Emerging Markets;
Mo Abudu, Chairman & CEO, EbonyLife TV, at
the Press Conference in Cannes announcing
plans for the co-production of “Desperate
Housewives Africa”, by EbonyLife TV and
Disney.
Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife TV has signed a co-
production deal for the African version of
Desperate Housewives scheduled to debut in
mid -2014.
The original ABC TV series- Desperate
Housewives – followed the lives of a group of
women as seen through the eyes of a dead
neighbour who committed suicide in the very
first episode. The storyline covers thirteen years
of the women’s lives over eight seasons as they
worked through domestic struggles and family
life, while facing the secrets, crimes and
mysteries hidden behind the doors of their — at
the surface — beautiful and seemingly perfect
neighbourhood.
Ben Pyne, President of global distribution at
Disney, revealed at the recently concluded
MIPCOM 2013 (an international TV and
entertainment market held in Cannes once
every year; where content is introduced for co-
producing, buying, selling, financing and
distributing) that the African version of the
comedy/drama series created by Marc Cherry,
and broadcast by ABC from 2004 until 2012 – is
currently in development, for a summer 2014
debut.
The co-production deal with EbonyLife TV will
feature an African cast, set in Lagos, Nigeria,
where it will also be shot, airing in 44 countries
within the African continent. The highly popular
series gathered a huge following in Nigeria as
well over the years.
Mo Abudu, CEO of EbonyLife TV said, “We are
going to make it relevant, number one, by using
local talent — talent that our viewers will know
and love; two, we are going to work with local
stylists, local fashion designers, local interior
designers.”
The series has had four South American
versions: one for Argentina, one for Colombia
and one for Brazil as well as a remake in Turkey.
“We are going to give the stories an African
flavour. We will localize it, because there’s
nothing the West has that Africa doesn’t have.
We love, we fight, we kiss and we make up. We
like all the good things in life. There’s good and
there’s evil globally. So all those human
interests, those things that appeal to you,
believe me, appeal to us also.” Mo Abudu
added.
The Nigerian series will feature an African cast
of new emerging and established talents and
will be filmed on location in Lagos, Nigeria, at
Adiva Estates, a gated development along the
Lekki Expressway, developed by ARM. This
location has been identified as Africa’s own
“Wisteria Lane”.
Production will closely follow the format and
storylines of the original US version, with a
uniquely Nigerian flavour. And to ensure the
series retains its international appeal but with an
African soul, EbonyLife TV will be working with
DO.ii designs and Agatha Interiors on furniture
design for the Desperate Housewives Africa
sets. On dressing of talent, EbonyLife TV will be
partnering with stylist Veronica of Vane-Style
and major Nigerian designers to include Bridget
Awosika, Ella & Gabby, Jewel By Lisa, Kareema
Mak, Lanre Da Silva, Meena, Me-Li, Needle
Point, Odio Mimonet, Phunkafrique, Toju Foyeh,
etcetera.
Talks are also ongoing with a number of
potential sponsors to take advantage of this
once in a lifetime opportunity that will
undoubtedly deliver increased brand awareness,
massive brand building and huge propensity to
purchase.
With this exciting news, the question on
everyone’s mind is, which actresses from our
continent will make up the ensemble of cast in
the Nigeria-set Desperate Housewives Africa?
We wait to see.
