* Social media networks in Nigeria have been a
flurry of mostly insults at Adams Oshiomole
after a video emerged of the Edo State governor
insulting a widow.
The woman’s items had been confiscated by
Oshiomole’s task force, and while she pled that
she was a widow and wasn’t selling but waiting
for transport, Oshiomole had applied, “You’re a
widow? Go and die.”
Most people are shocked by the video,

*The last few months have been a time of
introspection for EFA. Working hard as a
member of the main cast for the MTV Show;
SHUGA, meant time away from the studio and
making music — his first love.
Balling Like Don Jazzy is a song of aspiration
from a young man making a steady climb from
obscurity. A Cross River indigene that calls
Ibadan home knows too well what swimming
against the tide is.
According to him, “Balling Like Don Jazzy is a
song that speaks from the perspective of a
young Nigerian who aspires to a position of
greatness by dint of hard work. We decided to
install Don Jazzy as someone for the youths to
look up to. Especially since our traditional role
models are largely criminals and corrupt
government officials.”

*The Academic Staff Union of Universities
(ASUU) has said it will not call off this present
strike until the four months salaries the
government is owing its members are paid. The
union is also calling for an immediate
implementation of the N1.2tn offer by the
Federal Government to Universities, with
immediate release of N100bn this year. The
balance of N1.1tn is then to be spread over five
years from 2014.
These were some of the resolutions reached by
members of the National Executive Council
(NEC) of the union who converged in Kano on
Friday to discuss on whether to call off the
almost-five-months industrial action or not. It
was discussed that they will meet with president
Jonathan on fresh demands. The date for the
new meeting hasn’t been fixed though. SIGH!
According to a source, a strong commitment to
the two demands, among other pending issues,
must be obtained from the President before the
industrial action will be called off by the union.
He said: “The issue now is on trust and we do
not want a situation where promises will not be
kept. The authorities have failed us in the past
and we do not want a repeat of that.
That was why we decided at the NEC meeting
that the government should pay us the arrears
of salaries being owed us since we started the
strike on July1 before the strike can be called
off.
The salaries should not be paid piecemeal. We
also insist that the Federal Government should
start the implementation of the offer made to us
when we met the President some weeks ago.”
My fellow Nigerian students….the saga
continues sadly …… all this yo-yo movement
surrounded by the strike – on-off-on-off – we
wait with bated breathe on a conclusive update
on this ASUU vs Federal Government SAGA.
I suppose its probably fair to say schools are
closed for this year and we go just resume for
2014. I tire.

* Sensational singer, Nikki Laoye has finally dropped the video for her latest hit single, "ONLY YOU".
Nominated for "Song Of the Year" - African Gospel Music Awards in the UK and trending on twitter across Nigeria within minutes of its release, Nikki made a powerful statement when she released the soulful ballad in April, earlier this year. In the video for the RotimiKeys produced song, Nikki expresses her deep love and trust for God, the One who held her through the most trying time of her life
- the recent loss of her Dad.
In her own words, Nikki says "This is my love note to the Lover of my soul- the one who kisses away my tears, the one who holds me tight late in the midnite
hour; the one who has put my broken heart together again."
Shot on location in London by UK based video director/producer, Shabach, the video illustrates
Nikki making a home video recording - a picturesque video message expressing the intimate bond between father and child, with Nikki showing her
uninhibited love and trust in an emotional and sometimes playful way.
Dedicated to the memory of her late father, Prince Olushola Laoye, who passed away in her arms in 2011, Nikki further explains, "Shooting this video
was very emotional for me", she says. "I had to get past being upset, and actually sing the song, not cry through it. My Dad was a true representation of who
God is to me so I literally looked into the camera and saw Him smiling back at me, urging me on. I know this song has been a great inspiration and
solace to many since its release and I simply want
anyone hurting out there to find comfort and rest in
the soothing love of the one true Abba Father".
Urban Contemporary singer, Nikki Laoye is signed to
Nigerian entertainment company, Wahala Media
Entertainment.

Report/VIDEO : Iyanya Bounced at Davido’s Exclusive 21st Birthday Party and party video

*Reports and multiple sources have confirmed that Iyanya was refused entry to
Davido’s 21st birthday party. As Terry G,Tonto Dikeh, B-Red, DJ Jimmy Jatt, Shank,
Vixen, Shizzi, Danagog, Patoranking, DJ Caise, DJ Spinall, Ill Rhymz and Sasha P
were partying like there is no tomorrow, Iyanya was busy dealing with security at
the gate of the venue. The juicy report below:
“That question has left many tongues wagging. Iyanya was bounced at Davido’s 21st birthday party which held at Pavada Lounge Thursday night.
Witnesses said, most people who weren’t invited where not allowed to get in, and if you must, you must call one of the HKN group members, who will come out and take you in.
Most people who felt they should be in,called Kamal, a member of Davido’s group who was always in and out taking guests in.
But when Iyanya got to the entrance, the bouncers said he couldn’t get it.People
around told them it was Iyanya, but the bouncers still refused and said if he must
get in, he should call Davido or Kamal.
Iyanya tried making a call, but no one picked, he got angry nodding his head as
he left. A lot of people didn’t understand
what was going on and it soon became a
hot topic among guests at the party. Now,
this is an inside gist and it’s so true.”

NEW MUSIC: Banky W – Jasi

* The King of African R&B, EME boss, Banky W is
BACK!
With songs like “Yes/No” and “Strong Ting”,
Banky W has cemented his place as the King of
African R&B. This time though, we find on
“Jasi” that he switches gears and changes
styles entirely AND effortlessly by putting out
what many would call an Afro Pop song.
One that we would not expect from the R&B
maestro, but one that works very well,
nonetheless. It’s playful and funny, sexy and
seductive all at once. Mr W fully intends to
continue in the Afro-R&B lane, but time and
again, we see him successfully experimenting
with other genres (most notably Rap & now
Afropop).
Produced by hitmaker extraordinaire and
longtime collaborator MasterKraft.

* Farewell ceremonies ended last Thursday for
another one of us. Deji Falae was the son of a
former Minister of Finance, Secretary to the
Federal Government and Presidential Aspirant. He
got actively involved in Ondo State politics in
2009 and his final role was as the state’s
Commissioner for Culture & Tourism. He was
happily married with three children.
Deji died on October 3 on the Associated Airlines
flight that crashed shortly after take-off in Lagos.
A lot has been said about the state of the airline
and the aircraft, but what is clear is that Deji’s
death was probably needless; unnecessary;
avoidable. He didn’t like to fly domestically and
travelled by road commuting between Akure and
Lagos. He went by road to his meetings in Abuja.
This time, he was on official duty to accompany
the body of the late Governor of Ondo State,
Olusegun Agagu, to Akure for his funeral.
In the Dana Airline crash last year, we lost Ehime
Aikhomu, Innocent Okoye, Tosin Anibaba (nee
Odujirin), Dunni Doherty, and Ayoola Somolu to
name a few. Before then, we had lost Olukemi,
who was shot by car jackers in Ibadan and the
closest hospital had no blood, oxygen or
ambulance. We had also lost Imole. He was
involved in a car crash in Igbinedion University,
Okada, and the school didn’t have a functional
ambulance. He was taken to the hospital in a taxi
– lost time, lost blood, went into coma, and then
died. After Dana, we’ve lost Adeola Randolph who
died from an asthma attack because the nearest
hospital didn’t have oxygen. It was said the first
hospital Agagu was taken to in Yaba was unable to
stabilise him. He died enroute St. Nicholas
Hospital, Ikoyi. And, just last week, Prof. Festus
Iyayi died in an accident involving the Kogi State
Governor’s convoy.
Sons and daughters; fathers and mothers; cousins,
nieces and nephews; friends, peers and colleagues
– die daily because we refuse to get involved in
the system that shapes our very existence.
Instead, we are concerned about our ability to
give birth to our children abroad; get them into
the best schools outside the country and make
obscene amounts of money from the same
inefficient system to sustain this lifestyle. We are
consumed by our ability to stay relevant with the
requisite toys (cars, homes and trips to exotic
lands) in a system that has no value for human
life. We’ve turned being able to send our children
abroad into a status symbol forgetting that there
was a time in Nigeria where students went abroad
because they couldn’t get into Nigerian
universities. It is NOT a thing of pride that you
can’t stay in Nigeria for more than six weeks and
you have to “get out for civilisation”. It’s
madness!
However, we forget that as long as we are within
the shores of this great nation of ours, our
financial resources and our connections can
become so worthless. If you have an accident on
the Abuja – Lokoja Road, the Third Mainland
Bridge or the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway today, if
there’s no ambulance with the necessary
equipment to stabilise you and get you to a
functional hospital, you WILL die. That you could
have afforded an air ambulance to get you to the
best doctor in Germany, the US or anywhere in
the world becomes irrelevant. Yet, we keep
thinking we are immune to the madness that
engulfs the land. A dysfunctional system makes no
exceptions. It respects no one. Why have we not
learnt this?
Mrs. Goodluck Jonathan’s mum was in Germany
earlier this year for a medical checkup. She died a
few months later in a car accident on a bad road
in Port Harcourt. Ironically, the same road that
killed her was then repaired for her funeral.
Over the course of this year alone, Sullivan
Chime, Bola Tinubu, Timipre Sylva, Rochas
Okorocha, Liyel Imoke, Alhaji Balarabe Musa,
wounded Nigerian soldiers, Danbaba Suntai
(Governor of Taraba) and three subsidy marketers
being investigated for fraud have all travelled out
of the country for medical care. Nigerians travel
to India, Germany, England, Dubai, the US and
many other countries to get medical care that was
available in Nigeria 20 years ago. Mrs. Josephine
Okoye, mother of popular music duo P-Square,
died in India last year. The medical tourism
industry is conservatively estimated at N250bn
naira (approximately 1 billion pounds) annually.
That’s almost twice the budget of the National
Assembly that’s leaving Nigeria.
There’s at least one person you know who you are
sure beyond a reasonable doubt died because our
system is dysfunctional. They either had the
money and it was too late to travel or they
couldn’t afford to travel. Again, senseless and
unnecessary deaths. We’ve lost Josephine, Ehime,
Tosin and Deji. Which one of us is next? This is not
about government, this is about us; each and
every one of us. It’s about the loss of our
humanity and the paralysis that has overcome us
that prevent us from getting involved. I strongly
believe in the theory of six degrees of separation –
there are only six people between you and any
one you are trying to reach. We all know someone
who knows someone who knows someone who is
in government, but we need to begin to hold them
accountable! Beyond this, we also need to get
involved ourselves; get our hands dirty. But those
who come to equity must come with clean hands.
Are we ready for the sacrifices? Are we ready for
the discomfort? Because if we are not, we all just
need to shut up and deal with it! Accept that
planes will continue to drop; cars will continue to
crash; patients in hospitals will continue to die; our
children will have to go outside of the country to
maximise their potential and NO ONE will be held
accountable for any of this! As our loved ones
continue to die for absolutely no reason, we’ll
continue to gather together, pray and say “God
knows best”; sing and praise; cry, bury and move
on … until the next death.
As long as we are ready to play that game, then
let us stop complaining about what Nigeria has
become because we are ALL responsible for the
rot in the system – moral decay; impunity and a
complete lack of respect for human lives and law
and order – every single one of us, especially you
– Nigeria’s educated elite. We know and
understand; but we choose daily this Nigeria that
we have – an addiction of some sort – this Nigeria
that continues to stifle the best of the best. Unless
we are ready to make the changes that are
required, then this is the Nigeria we’ll bequeath to
our children, much worse than we met it.
Yes, there are pockets of excellence and despite
these challenges, some of us do manage to
succeed – innovating and excelling. But the
numbers are TOO SMALL!!! Furthermore, there’s
no reason for it. We deserve better, we can do
better and we can truly be the Giant of Africa.
I believe I deserve better. Do you? And if you do,
what are you willing to do about it?
The sacrifices can be simple or hard. From
supporting initiatives you believe in to actively
engaging in the political process – funding, holding
officials to account; complaining and not ignoring
shortcomings in service delivery; telling off
government officials instead of lobbying for
contracts. Sacrificing your time and not buying
your way through processes and challenges. We
should be vocal and take different arms of
government, including the judiciary, at the
federal, state and local levels to task. When
someone you know dies from neglect, you have to
be willing to demand accountability from
institutions and individuals not just say “God
knows best”. Yes, we’ll all die, but we need to
curb these needless deaths!
I believe I deserve better. Do you? And if you do,
what are you willing to do about it?
(For Olukemi, Ese and the hundreds of thousands
who have died or who have lost loved ones
because Nigeria is dysfunctional.)

[READ] : Open Letter To Tiwa Savage

* So I heard one of the most successful Nigerian
female Singer and my favourite Tiwa Savage is
getting married to her fiancé/manager Tee Billz
this month and I was extremely happy for her.
So I read in some interviews that her fiancé said
that they have a limited invitation cards for their
wedding which means he doesn’t want crowd,
fans or party crashers at his wedding, and I was
like “whatever” that he has pride and what was he
feeling like with the believe that Tiwa doesn’t
know anything about this and she wouldn’t say
such to her fans.
But to my own surprise, few days later I read in
another interview where Tiwa also said the same
thing “If you’re not invited don’t come to our
wedding”, I was really disappointed that she could
say such despite the fact that we are the ones
buying her records and also it is our money they
want to use for this their wedding ooo. These
artistes don’t know that without us (fans) they
can’t succeed in this business.
I made up my mind never to buy her records
again, for her and her fiancé to say such to their
fans who buy their records. So I began to wonder
why would they say such, is it that they don’t
want to spend, they are being stingy or maybe
they want a low key wedding which I don’t think
so.
So today I was going through some blogs and I
saw a gist that the controversial Kemi Omololu
Ololoyun said Tiwa Savage is getting married to a
married man with a kid, huh! I was shocked, I
couldn’t believe it I had go straight to google and
search if the story is true, trust google, google
showed me everything patapata and it was
confirmed that this her fiancé Tee billz is indeed
married with a kid but separated and not yet
divorced.
What da f**k! So I realise this is the reason she
doesn’t want crowd at her wedding because she’s
scared. But seriously Why would she do such? I’m
highly disappointed in her, it shows she is very
desperate to get married with the fact that it is
illegal to get married to a married man who isn’t
divorced.
Shame on you Tiwa Savage, is it someone like
you that is suppose to say you don’t want crowd
and uninvited guests at your wedding? You want
to marry somebody else’s husband yet you flew
abroad to buy wedding gown and you con dey
flaunt am to the world, shame no catch you.
Anyways, I am happy for you but please be wise,
let the divorce come first before you enter his
house biko, we all know you are not getting any
younger but please little patience would do.
Getting married to a legally married man is totally
wrong, it only shows how desperate you are.
And once again, is it true you caused the rift
between Don Jazzy and Wande Coal? Xoxo

Temitayo G.

* The chairman of the Academic Staff Union of
Universities, University of Ibadan, Dr. Olusegun
Ajiboye has discredited the stories that the
National Executive Council had met in Kano on
Saturday as false.
Ajiboye was speaking in an interview on
Diamond FM, University of Ibadan and stated
that no meeting was scheduled for yesterday or
today, as they were still in the middle of a
seven-day morning, which was declared in
honour of the late Professor Festus Iyayi, a
former national chairman of the Union.
It would be recalled that Iyayi lost his life in a
fatal crash, on his way to Bayero University,
Kano, where members of ASUU were to meet
and reach a final decision, on whether to
continue with the strike or accept the federal
government’s offer.

*A woman came home from work late, tired and
irritated, to find her 12-year old son waiting for her
at the door.
SON: 'Mummy, may I ask you a question?'
MUM: 'Yeah sure, what it is?' replied the woman.
SON: 'Mummy, how much do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'That's none of your business. Why do you
ask such a thing?' the woman said angrily.
SON: 'I just want to know. Please tell me, how
much do you make an hour?'
MUM: 'If you must know, I make 100USD an hour.'
SON: 'Oh,' the little boy replied, with his head
down.
SON: 'Mummy, may I please borrow 50USD?'
The mother was furious, 'If the only reason you asked that is so you can borrow some money to buy a silly toy or some other nonsense, then you
march yourself straight to your room and go to bed. Think about why you are being so selfish. I don't work hard everyday for such childish
frivolities.'
The little boy quietly went to his room and shut the door..
The woman sat down and started to get even angrier about the little boy's questions. How dare he ask such questions only to get some money?
After about an hour or so, the woman had calmed
down , and started to think:
Maybe there was something he really needed to
buy with that 50USD and she really didn't ask for
money very often. The woman went to the door of
the little boy's room and opened the door.
'Are you asleep, son?' She asked.
'No Mummy, I'm awake,' replied the boy.
'I've been thinking, maybe I was too hard on you
earlier' said the woman. 'It's been a long day and I
took out my aggravation on you. Here's the 50USD
you asked for.'
The little boy sat straight up, smiling. 'Oh, thank
you Mummy!' he yelled. Then, reaching under his
pillow he pulled out some crumpled up bills.
The woman saw that the boy already had money,
started to get angry again.
The little boy slowly counted out his money, and
then looked up at his mother.
'Why do you want more money if you already
have some?' the mother grumbled.
'Because I didn't have enough, but now I do,' the
little boy replied.
'Mummy, I have 100USD now. Can I buy an hour of
your time? Please come home early tomorrow. I
would like to have dinner with you.'
The mother was crushed. She put his arms around her little son, and she begged for his forgiveness.
It's just a short reminder to all of you working so hard in life. We should not let time slip through our fingers without having spent some time with
those who really matter to us, those close to our
hearts. Do remember to share that 100USD worth of
your time with someone you love.
If we die tomorrow, the company that we are
working for could easily replace us in a matter of
hours. But the family & friends we leave behind
will feel the loss for the rest of their lives.

* As expected, the death of one time ASUU
president Prof. Festus Iyayi has paused the
decision making process. Iyayi who before his
death was the Head of the department of
Business Administration, University of Benin and
also one of negotiating team of ASUU. It was
reported that they were on the way to Bayero
University Kano, where the decision was to be
taken when his vehicle and one of the vehicles
in the convoy of Kogi state Governor, Captain
Idris Wada (Rtd) collided.
Iyayi who was in company of Benin Zonal
coordinator of the union, Dr. Sunny Iyalo; the
National welfare officer, Dr. Ngozi Ilo and
University of Benin chairman of ASUU, Dr.
Anthony Monye-Emina was the only one that
died as Ilo was badly injured and presently
receiving treatment in Lokoja General Hospital.
The remaining two only escaped with minor
wounds.
Eye witnesses said this ill-fated accident
happened at Banda, a village close to Lokoja
and neither the government nor any of the
vehicles in his convoy stopped to check what
had happened. Although the Special Adviser to
Kogi State governor on Media and Strategy, Mr.
Jacob Edi denied the accusation claiming that he
did not only stop at the scene but also ordered
the medical personnel in the ambulance in the
convoy to attend to the victims.
